Lancaster ISD Trustees Recognize Business Partners Who “Stand Up” For Public Schools

Lancaster, TX/Lancaster ISD – The support of local businesses and other community organizations is vitally important to public schools in Texas. These collaborative efforts yield creative, exciting opportunities for students as they advance their learning. Whatever the relationship, businesses and other organizations that “stand up” to help are invaluable. Their assistance and allegiance to the public education efforts in the community speak volumes to the community, the teachers, and the students.

On Monday, October 19, the Lancaster ISD Board of Trustees and Superintendent Dr. Michael McFarland recognized three business partners for their outstanding support of the students and schools in Lancaster ISD as part of the Texas Association of School Boards’ Standing Up for Public Schools Recognition Program. Danielle Wesley of Children’s Health, Dr. Reo Pruiett of Educate Texas, and Ann Pomykal of the Texas Instruments Foundation were each acknowledged for their organizations contributions to the school district.

“We are grateful for the support and intentional efforts of these business partners and their commitment to help make a real difference for the students and families that we serve,” Dr. McFarland said.

Lancaster ISD has worked in close partnership with each entity for the past few years.

“We appreciate Ms. Wesley and Children’s Health for connecting us to the future of medicine and a system designed to help our families better manage and have close access to medical care,” Assistant Superintendent Dr. Helena Mosely said.

The district continues to benefit from educational partner Educate Texas as well as the Texas Instruments Foundation which have both been instrumental in the transformation efforts of Lancaster ISD.

“Through their support, our district has made great strides and has been able to upgrade the quality of instruction, enhance the learning environment, and connect to other programs, resources and opportunities for our staff and students.” Chief Academic Officer Connie Isabell said.

During the Board Meeting acknowledgements, Chief Communications Officer Sonya Cole-Hamilton shared sentiments about each partner.

“Our students, parents, and teachers directly benefit from business partners who are willing to stand up for public schools, not just in words but in actions,” she said. “We applaud these community partners for their participation and hope that this will continue to be a strong relationship in the years to come.”

Standing Up for Public Schools is a recognition program established by the Texas Association of School Boards to celebrate the important support present in local communities, express appreciation to those who stand up for schools, and encourage more businesses to participate in this sort of community service.
