Lancaster, TX/Lancaster ISD – The Friday Night Lights are back on and the Lancaster High School Tiger Football team wants everyone to get excited about this upcoming season.
“We want the stands filled and everyone cheering for the WEBO nation!” Chris Gilbert, Lancaster’s Head Football Coach said.
“Our boys have worked really hard preparing for this season and nothing is better than being able to play in front of our community.”
The Tigers will play 10 regular season games this year with five home games at the Beverly D. Humphrey Tiger Stadium. This year’s season opener will feature the Tigers against the pre-season, No. 1 5A team, Denton Ryan.
LHS Senior Wide Receiver Cartrell Thomas believes his team is ready.
“I feel like playing this team first is the best way to start our season,” Thomas expressed. We are ready. We worked all summer and we are going to do it the WEBO way!”
Thomas, along with teammate Omar Manning will be the dual offensive weapon this season as wide receivers. The Tiger defense has the traditional speed that Lancaster’s backfield has become known for as well as several returning players. Combine the on-field talent with mental toughness and this team could be preparing for a long season.
“Being mentally tough is what can be the determining factor between a win or a loss,” Gilbert said. “I want our boys to get out there, have fun and do their best. If they can do that, what more can you ask?”
Make plans to see the Tigers in action Friday, August 26, at 7:30 PM at home. Football presale tickets are being sold throughout the week at the Beverly D. Humphrey Tiger Stadium’s athletic office for $6, $4 for children and $8 for everyone at the gate on game night.
The Lancaster ISD Athletics Department is also asking all fans to wear black spirit attire for this week’s opening home game. Lancaster Tiger spirit gear can be purchased at the Tiger Spirit store at the stadium on or before game day.
