Biography
Teaching has always been something that I have desired to achieve and couldn't imagine myself in any other career!.  It gives me pleasure to watch students bask in knowledge through exploration and excitement knowing the reward is self-sustaining achievement as lifelong learners.

I am Latonia Johnson, born and raised in Shreveport, La.  I began my teaching career in 2001 at a Charter School in Irving, TX.  After 4 years in a charter school setting, I set out to venture into the public school sector and joined Lancaster ISD from 2005-2007 at Pleasant Run Elementary.  Seeking other adventures, I found myself back in the Charter school setting for 8 years as a Reading Specialist and a Teacher on Special Assignment (servicing Kindergarten -3rd Grade). In 2015, I joined Lancaster ISD again at an invigorating campus (RHE) until this time.

My love of Reading, Writing, and Comprehension has allowed me to "Teach Like a PIRATE". I believe that reading is the fundamental avenue to any and every area of learning.  It provides the basis for all subject areas to be tackled with finesse due to the essential understanding of the text.

As we embark on this wonderful school year, allow me to challenge your child in ways that will allow him/her to use his/her imagination and creativity as they learn!
